Following the critically acclaimed debut We Who Had Left in 2012, A Heart That Responds From Schooling is the second album recorded by Italian composer and performer Alessandro Bosetti (electronics, voice) and Australian pianist Chris Abrahams (The Necks) and will be released next February by Unsounds, the renowned Amsterdam based music label for sound art, contemporary composition and experimental improvisation.
Recorded in Berlin in November 2013, the album is an enchanted chest of intimate and oblique sonic explorations that span both improvised fragments and original renditions of compositions like Steve Lacy’s Esteem (with Bosetti lyrics) and Milton Nascimento’s Bridges (Travessia) in the English version with Gene Lees’ lyrics.
Hypnotic melodic lines meet dusty, blurred digital powder. A frail crooning gently sweeps over simple, minimal piano notes. The album’s seven tracks weave in a ghostly sensual atmosphere infused by minute shining details (Enrico Bettinello).
